Salary Information: The salary range is $2,314.92 to $2,775.50 per month (Operational Services, Phase 1). The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Primary Purpose: The Retail Services Clerical Assistant, Inventory Logistics processes tasks in Inventory Logistics, such as receiving goods, preparing items for shipment, stocking merchandise, pricing goods, organizing overstock and storage areas, and processing returns according to established procedures.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Retail Services Inventory Logistics Supervisor, the work involves a mix of routine tasks with a low level of complexity. The incumbent is expected to be accurate and efficient in assigned tasks under the direction of the supervisor. Tasks require the application of general working knowledge. Communications are of a factual nature and typically occur on a one-on-one basis. They involve contact with staff with a strong emphasis on factual and accurate information exchange. The incumbent is expected to work effectively and cooperatively with others in a positive manner. The on-going development of team skills is also expected, with emphasis on supporting others in their work. The hours are dependent on the needs of the business. This is a seasonal position from May-August. 

Typical Duties: The Retail Services Clerical Assistant, Inventory Logistics is accountable for working in a timely, accurate manner when completing tasks within Inventory Logistics. Tasks include, but not are limited to, the following:

  • Prepares items to be shipped out to vendors or customers.
  • Processes returns in a timely manner.
  • Assists with fulfilling customer orders.
  • Assists with shelving textbooks and merchandise as required.
  • Prices items and shelves in stockroom as appropriate.
  • Assists with transfer of product between retail locations.
  • Assists with moving materials to and from various storage rooms.
  • Answers phones for the stockroom, addresses or refers queries as appropriate.


Education and Experience: The incumbent requires a Grade 12 and basic computer skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills: Basic computer skills, ability to lift and move boxes up to 50lbs. Shift may require individual to stand up to 7 hours.

This position is in scope of CUPE 1975.
