Assistant Professor (Anesthesiology)

Applications are invited for a one-year term Assistant Professor faculty position in Anesthesiology beginning July 1, 2013, to serve as a sabbatical leave replacement.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  The salary range for an Assistant Professor is $78,931-$94,963.00.

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine:  The WCVM is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine.  Approximately 80 students per year from the four western provinces and the northern jurisdictions are admitted each year to the DVM program.  The College also includes 140 graduate students, interns and residents.  It is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group on the university campus, with access to facilities including the Canadian Light Source and the Biomedical Beamline.  For further information, please visit www.usask.ca/wcvm

The Veterinary Medical Centre:  The VMC has undergone substantial expansion and renovation, and it is currently an outstanding state-of-the-art facility serving western Canada as an AVMA and AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre.

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include:  High quality instruction in anesthesiology to undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary students; participation in the clinical teaching and service programs of the Small Animal and Large Animal Clinics of the Veterinary Medical Centre; and contributions to continuing education.  There will be opportunities for scholarship and clinical research in anesthesiology in collaboration with other anesthesia faculty.  Applicants must possess a D.V.M. degree or its equivalent and must be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan.  Candidates with postgraduate qualifications and/or board certified or eligible for board certification in the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists or the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia will be given preference.
