The Chief Audit Executive adds significant value to the university’s governance, risk management and internal control systems. The primary role of the Chief Audit Executive is to ensure university systems are consistent with the strategic goals and the Audit Services Charter, and in compliance with International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing defined by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Standards). The Chief Audit Executive is accountable for implementing strategies and developing a team culture that evaluates and analyzes operational, financial, and internal compliance controls to identify any significant control weaknesses and to provide assurance that systems are effective. This leadership role participates in university-wide initiatives, acting as a strong business consultant on complex issues.
The ideal candidate possesses a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or a Certified Public Account (CPA) designation, coupled with a degree in business, accounting, finance, or a risk-related field. With significant experience leading an internal audit function, the incumbent has a track record of leading change and developing teams that evaluate and analyze operational, financial, and internal compliance controls to identify any significant control weaknesses and to provide assurance that systems are effective. Having worked in complex organizations, the incumbent has experience working effectively with diverse groups of people and personally contributing to an inclusive work environment.
