Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Two Years: 2012-2014)
“Synchrotron-based Feed molecular Structure Research Program: Applications of Synchrotron FTIR Microspectroscopy and Synchrotron Soft-x Ray in Feed Molecular Structure and Molecular Nutrition Research”
The Department of Animal and Poultry Science, College of Agriculture and Bioresources, University of Saskatchewan, Canada, is seeking applicants for a two-year postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of Feed Chemistry, Molecular Nutrition, Feed Science, Feed Processing Technology, Ruminant Nutrition and Molecular Spectroscopy.
Duties: Conduct and publish research related to the defined research areas; assist in the coordination and daily operation of a research program, including the research activities of graduate (both M.S. and Ph.D.) students, technicians and collaborators; be involved in various grant-related activities, and preparation of research reports and manuscripts for publication.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in one of the following areas: synchrotron application, FTIR and x-ray application, feed/food chemistry, biochemistry, feed/food science or animal nutrition, demonstrated expertise in plant, feed or animal research, spectral data analysis, and techniques in FTIR, x-ray, NEXAFS, feeds and nutrition research; expertise in data interpretation and publication of results in the scientific literature; and strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with grantsmanship, manuscript preparation, teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, and a demonstrated ability to work with other investigators, support personnel, and students in a collaborative research environment.
Conditions: The position is for one year first, renewable for up to two years (renewal dependent upon progress). Salary will follow the university standard for a PDF. Funds to carry out associated research activities (eg conference) are available.
