Salary Information: $2,613.22 to $3,134.95 per month (Operational Services, Phase 2). The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience
Primary Purpose: To provide clinical support for outpatient clinics and to provide general administrative support to the faculty.
Nature of Work: Reporting overall to the Manager of Finance and Administration with day-to-day guidance from the nursing staff and faculty physicians, this position supports the faculty physicians within the outpatient clinics. This position is of moderate complexity and is assisted by the supervisor and professional staff in determining appropriate action for complex issues and decision. Works independently and receives general supervision.
Typical Duties: Preparing and screening patients for physical exams; room cleaning; ordering and stocking of supplies; sample collection; aiding and assisting physicians and nurses as required during treatment, telephone reception; filing; and other related duties as assigned.
Education: Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized post-secondary medical office assistant program. Current medical terminology and digital transcription training is required. CPR training is an asset.
Experience: Three years of clinical office experience in an outpatient clinic setting. Experience in an obstetrics\gynecology setting and experience working with an EMR would be an asset.
Skills: The ability to interact appropriately with patients and their families; effectively work both independently and as part of a team; proficient in all aspects of medical office assistant and secretarial work; effective organizational and time management skills; problem-solving & decision making skills; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; self-motivated and creative; knowledge of University procedures; and proficiency with Microsoft Office software; and familiarity with a database or EMR system is an asset.
