Salary Information: The salary range is $59,517 to $92,996 per annum (Specialist/Professional, phase 2). The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience with additional earning potential through a market supplement.
Primary Purpose: The Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) is a vibrant teaching hospital offering progressive multidisciplinary primary and referral veterinary medicine to its clients and their pets across western Canada. This position will provide primary veterinary dental care to patients of the VMC.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the VMC Director, the veterinarian will provide quality veterinary services to clients’ animals presenting to the veterinary dentistry service at the VMC. Veterinary dental activities will be coordinated at the VMC to maintain continuity of veterinary dental services to clients, optimize opportunities for clinical instruction to veterinary students and enhance strategic growth in case load.
- Provision of quality veterinary care in the area of veterinary dentistry to animals owned by clients
- Provide clinical instruction for senior students during their clinical dentistry rotations
- Excellence in patient management and client service
- Development of strong relationships with clients
- Development and growth of the veterinary dentistry caseload at the VMC.
- Collaborate on the development of client educational material related to veterinary dentistry and preventive medicine.
- Fostering collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to case management within the complex environment of the VMC
Education: DVM degree or equivalent. Board certification with the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) or advanced dental training is desirable.
Experience: At least three years direct experience in the field of veterinary dentistry in a private or academic practice.
Skills: Proficient skills demonstrated in the practice of veterinary dentistry with a strong foundation in prophylactic and therapeutic procedures, dental examinations, and dental imaging. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) with an emphasis on client service; ability to effectively work independently as well as part of a team within the multidisciplinary structure of the VMC; ability to professionally interact and mentor students in a busy clinical setting; demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills.
This position is in scope of the Administrative and Supervisory Personnel Association.
