Salary Information: The salary range is $44,873 to $70,115 per annum (Information Technology, Phase 1).  The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for software development and providing technical support for the university's Identity and Access Management systems.

Nature of Work:  The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Applications division assists the university community in the effective and efficient application of information technology to meet educational, research, and administrative needs.  The position reports to the Manager, Application Development and Integration within ICT Applications. The successful candidate enjoys challenging work and is an integral part of a dynamic application development and support team that manages the university’s Identity and Access Management system. Some after-hours work will be required and occasional travel may be required. 

Accountabilities: This position will be responsible for enhancement and maintenance of the Identity and Access Management System. The successful candidate will assist in designing and implementing changes to the Identity and Access Management System and its components and will introduce these functions to the user community. Accountabilities include:

  • Develop and implement web-based software for clients
  • Create test suites for code to ensure it is adequately tested
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Maintain client satisfaction by meeting client priorities and supporting client business processes in a timely manner
  • Provide accurate work estimates
  • Elicit client requirements and develop software to meet those requirements
  • Create software designs to meet requirements, and participate in design reviews
  • Support and maintain existing software for clients, including debugging existing production problems and developing enhancements to existing software.
  • Work with ID Management Team to plan and manage the development process.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, plus a minimum of three years of experience, or technical diploma plus a minimum of four years of experience.   

Experience:  A minimum of three years of experience in a similar position supporting enterprise applications; at least two years of development with Java in an enterprise environment, preference will be given to those who have experience with frameworks such as seam, spring or groovy ; two years of developing SQL-based applications with Oracle. Experience in a troubleshooting and maintenance environment; with code management software, such as SVN.  

Skills:  Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to estimate tasks; working knowledge and experience with Agile development processes; demonstrated abilities in the areas of problem-solving, troubleshooting, systems analysis and design, application design and programming.; knowledge of the University of Saskatchewan's would be considered an asset.
